Did you know that you have the opportunity to assist women through their pregnancy keeping them physically fit, increasing their self-esteem, and greatly reducing the need of interventions during childbirth, as well as preparing their bodies for quicker recoveries?
You can enjoy a passionate career while earning a generous income and time to enjoy the life you want to live. With approximately 323 births per minute in the world there is an endless pool of clientele.
With thousands of personal trainers in the world, competition can be fierce. However, did you know that a personal training career is one of the fastest growing professions in the health and fitness industry? According to the US Department of Labor, “Employment of personal fitness professionals is expected to increase much faster than the average for all occupations through 2014”.
Working for a health club or gym offers both income and perks, but they typically take about half of your revenue. Being your own boss allows flexibility, however, more responsibility. Whether you prefer to be an employee or self employed, your career will be optimized with the Fit For Birth Prenatal Exercise Specialist Certification.
Today you may be a personal trainer or a new mom. Maybe you just found out you are pregnant? Maybe you are a childbirth educator, doula, lactation consultant or a “9 to 5er” looking for a new and rewarding career. Relax and rest assured you are in the right place, no matter what your present occupation.
Fit For Birth Prenatal Specialists not only love their careers, they love their lives and the rewards of sharing the beautiful journey with each pregnant client.
Conception, pregnancy, and child birth are some of the rarest and most beautiful phenomena known to man, and because of the many physical, emotional, and hormonal changes occurring, it is necessary to become an expert regarding exercise and the effect it has on the pregnant body.
As a certified prenatal specialist you will interact with the pregnant client much more frequently than their health care provider. For example, in the first and second trimester the pregnant mother may only see her health care provider once a month, whereas you will see her weekly, if not more often. She will be coming to you with lots of “normal” pregnancy questions and complaints. Although you are not her health care provider it is important that you know and understand the normal changes in the pregnant body and the usual complaints through each trimester as well as “red flags”.
The goal of the Fit For Birth Prenatal Certification is to share our knowledge to give you professional tools and expertise to provide your pregnant clients with safe and effective exercise programs for both her and her baby. At the same time, you have the opportunity to empower her to take control of her health and the vehicle she will choose to give birth.
The Fit For Birth Prenatal Exercise Specialist will provide you with the confidence to:
- Design and implement safe and effective exercise programs, as well as alter them when needed. (one day a certain exercise may feel great, yet the very next day it may give your client heartburn or a feeling of discomfort)
- Explain to your clients the benefits of exercise for both mom and baby.

This Live Workshop will cover the:
- ACOG guidelines.
- The anatomy of the pregnant body.
- Hormonal, Physical, and Emotional Changes in the body during pregnancy and childbirth.
- In depth pelvic floor function.
- Pregnant client assessment.
- Fit For Birth Program Design:
- Belly Training
- Functional Training
- Labor Training and Visualization
- Stretching
- How to avoid and recognize rectus diastases.
- How to market yourself as a Fit For Birth Prenatal Exercise Specialist.
This certification program is right for you if you:
- Have a passion to work with pregnant women.
- Have a passion for a woman’s choice to birth the way she feels best.
- Enjoy any type of exercise and want to share your love with others.
- Want to take your trainer/client relationship to the next level.
- Want to start a new career.
- Want to stand apart from other “Fitness Experts”.
- Want to start your own business.
- Want a career that will allow you the time and flexibility to live the life you want and deserve.
You do not need to be female or have experienced pregnancy, childbirth or parenthood to be a prenatal exercise specialist. Pregnancy is an extremely special time in a woman’s life and as a prenatal exercise specialist you have the privilege of sharing her joys and tears.
Although experience in the fitness industry is preferable, it is not mandatory.
Please do not embark on this certification program if you are:
- Looking only to make quick money.
- Solely looking to fulfill continuing education.
- Unable to put in the time for learning.
- Not passionate about working with pregnant women.
- Do not understand that pregnancy is a special time, and special considerations are necessary when it comes to implementing a safe and effective exercise program.
The Fit For Birth Prenatal Exercise Specialist Package includes:

You will also take home a CD containing:
- The latest ACOG guidelines.
- Fit For Birth Manual.
- Fit For Birth Exercise Video Library.
- Fit For Birth New Client Introduction Questionnaire.
- Fit For Birth Doctor Waiver Form.

You will have the privilege of working with women during the most special time in their lives, and you will have the ability to encourage and empower your clients to take control of their health and believe in their body’s natural ability to birth their babies the way they want.
Once you complete your certification program and market yourself as a Fit For Birth Certified Prenatal Exercise Specialist, you will be representing Fit For Birth. At Fit For Birth, we maintain the highest standards for integrity, knowledge and passion. We are here to assist, guide, and encourage you, as well as to help you build your business. In the end, the goal is to make a generous living from your passion to help mothers through their birthing.
You will fully understand your commitment to assisting women through their pregnancy. You will not only help them stay physically fit, but provide exercise programs designed to build higher self-esteem, reduce the number of interventions during childbirth, and allow for a speedy recovery.
Specifically, exercise will:

Our Hawaii Birth Journey Coming to an End
Today is my last night in Hawaii. As I reflect on my journey I recognize the beauty of life when you are in alignment. This journey has been one of the best events of my life. I’m sure I will write another entire blog about the details of my hawaii experience! The family experience, the relationships I developed, the obstacles we overcame personally and for the filming of the documentary…Hawaii really was a journey for many reasons and I am so thankful for everything and everyone especially my first contacts in Hawaii Star and Michael, my midwives Mala and April, videographer Ben and his daughter Aria, my roommate B, Sariah our wonderful raw food chef, Kaden’s dad and my best friend James, Kaden and Naiya
I know I will be back to the big island! I have never felt so at home as I have here! I hope to aid and guide women through an experience I was able to have. The beautiful journey was truly life changing, I would really like to set up a retreat center that pregnant families can come to and stay for a few months before their birth, have wonderful foods prepared, yoga and other forms of prenatal exercise, community, swimming with the dolphins, and access to wonderful midwives for a natural birth. Only if every family could take off a few months and dedicate the time to each other and the growing baby. The family connection and bonding that can occur to prepare the family for their new addition and then another couple of months to be fully present with their new family member! What a beautiful experience it has been for me and such a learning opportunity.
Even though I did not deliver with the dolphins everything was the way Naiya wanted it. She chose her path and it was perfect. Our labor was peaceful in the ocean with the dolphins and for the sunset. Her birth was extremely fast in a nice tub of warm water with my beautiful family. I thank everyone who helped make this birth experience possible and hope that the documentary will encourage other families to have a natural birth!
With Love
Kim
Laboring with the Dolphins and Beautiful Natural Water Birth
After swimming with the dolphins for the past 2 months, little Naiya decided to make her way into the world on August 7, 2011 at 8:17pm. Ben (videographer) and I woke up early…well if you consider 8:30 early…(no signs of labor yet) and decided to go down to the bay to see if there were dolphins. If there were dolphins we were going to text James and Kaden to come meet us. When we got down there we saw lots of dolphin action. I could not get cell service so I borrowed someone’s phone to call but only got voicemail. I left a message and headed into the water where I was welcomed by a small pod of dolphins. They literally swam to me and in a way escorted me out to lots more dolphins, 50 or more. Ben was still on shore, waiting for the camera, we forgot to put it in the housing before leaving and it has to be sealed for 20 or so minutes before submerging it into the water.
There were so many dolphins, at times I felt if I moved an arm or a foot that I would bump into one. It was like many pods had come together. I recognized some specific dolphins as they have different markings or one in specific has a lot of growths on its mouth. It is amazing that each dolphin swim seems to be more and more magical. How can it be I often ask myself? Just a few minutes later I started having contractions in the water. Wow, really, I was going into labor in the water with the dolphins! Maybe that is why there were so many dolphins today?
Ben met me out there 30 minutes later and we were able to get some great footage! We stayed out there for about 2 magical hours. I felt so embraced and comforted by the dolphins. A connection that seems unexplainable. My contractions continued throughout the day. I got out of the water and drank some fresh coconut water and headed up the hill. The contractions were starting to get more intense and I thought it would be a good idea to take a nap as today was definitely the day. James checked me when I got back to the house and said I was 3-4 centimeters. I hung out, napping in between contractions. James called the midwives Mala and April to let them know I was definitely in labor, contractions about 5 minutes apart. This was about 2 pm. Around 5:30 I decided to go down to the bay for the sunset.
We met the midwives there and labor started to intensify rapidly. After the sunset around 7pm I still thought I had a few hours, that is until we got in the car. Our house is about 3 miles up a windy road and we pulled over every minute for an intense contraction. By the time we arrived home maybe 10 minutes I went straight to the bath and my baby girl was born in the warm water at 8:17pm.
Almost 41 Weeks Pregnant…Exploring Place of Refuge and Fire Ceremony
A little over 40 weeks pregnant now and Midwife Mala has another ceremony she wants to share! We walked up the hill and found a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, overlooking the ocean/ 2 Step. This ceremony is performed by burning dried cow dung coated in ghee. She was explaining cow dung when burned clears the radiation. Agnihotra is a Vedic yajna and involves the burning of cow dung and ghee butter in an inverted copper pyramid at dusk and dawn precisely, while chanting Vedic mantras. Properly performed, this ritual according to the Vedic tradition, brings about enormous healing and purification of the environment. Vedic sciptures note a further, very interesting quality of cowdung:The reduction of radioactive radiation.

40 Weeks Pregnant…Blessing Way in Tide Pool at 2 Step Hawaii
Preparing for a dolphin birth…Midwife Mala had a beautiful idea, to go down to the place I imagine giving birth and doing a blessing way and offering thanks to the water and nature. Birth is a key life passage for women. But modern culture has become preoccupied with the arrival of the baby-to-be and has lost touch with birth’s profound impact on the expectant mother. While our most common birth preparations focus on getting women physically ready to give birth, the blessingway ceremony helps a woman to prepare mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for the work of birthing, and it opens her to her instinctive abilities, which will guide her as she steps into the role of mother. (mother rising) We also did an offering of flowers. It was a beautiful ceremony! And a picture of the sunset after.
40 weeks 4 days…Enjoying Beautiful Hawaii’s Caves and Cliff Jumping
Kaden arrived on his due date, this baby is deciding to take its time:) In the meantime I have been feeling great and continue to enjoy time with the dolphins, exploring caves, and meeting more often with the midwives April and Mala.

Another visit to Midwife Mala! The last trip to the other side of island before baby comes!
July 18th we took the 2 1/2 hour drive to the Hilo side of the island to visit midwife Mala! She is so nurturing and beautiful. She held a circle for us before the prenatal appointment focusing on family and the new baby coming. Her intuition called upon it and it was definitely needed. After the circle we had a wonderful prenatal appointment and a stroll to the fresh water river that runs through her property. It feels so good being in nature, listening to the water flow, the birds chirp and feeling the water running over my feet. I feel at peace. We spent the night there and headed back to Kona. I have been feeling a little bit of cramping in the last few days and want to be grounded in Kona, next to the dolphins until the baby arrives.

Spinner dolphins jump for us!
Everyday it seems dolphin swimming gets more amazing! As soon as I think I have had the most incredible experience with the dolphins a new day presents itself with more incredible experiences. Today we went to 2 step around 10 am and met with Star (sirius institute) for a nice swim! Kaden was in a great mood, we pumped up the blow up boat and headed out. During this moment below James was sitting in Kaden’s blow up boat, Kaden was swimming on Star’s back and Ben (videographer) and I were swimming with them. It was like a pod swimming with a pod:)
Besides the fun jumping dolphins we had wonderful underwater experiences. For the first time we had an hour of play with the dolphins. Usually the dolphins are in sleep mode during the day but today they were active, playing with leaves in the water, mating, nursing, and having fun. Their fun nature and human interaction made this swim incredible. At times different dolphins would break away from the pod and have intimate interactions. One time a dolphin left its leaf for me and I dove down to offer another leaf and he took it and swam off:)
Thank you dolphins
James Welcomed to Hawaii by Dolphins
Kaden and I have been in Hawaii for 6 weeks now and James arrived on the 16th! Kaden was so excited to see his daddy! We went down to 2 step the next morning and he was welcomed by a pod of dolphins! We pumped up Kaden’s boat and headed to the water for some dolphin love.
